On Friday 3rd April, an announcement came through from the Government on how they plan to generate this year’s grades for GCSEs and A-Levels. The details can be found using the following link

We plan to summarise these for our parents, carers and students over the coming days, and to make sense of what this means for them and our schools.

Please rest assured, in line with the Government’s guidance, the aim is to make this as fair a process as possible so that no student is disadvantaged in relation to previous or future years when exams have been and will be sat. Grades will be drawn from a wide range of evidence and will be discussed by teams of teachers using their professional judgements. What is now very clear is that generating these grades are part of a confidential process and cannot be discussed with students, parents or any other interested parties. The final decision about grades will be made by exam boards as they also have the statistical information which will allow them to try ensure that there is parity between schools and that one does not have an advantage over another when it comes to awarding grades.

Please look out for further information from us as we learn more ourselves.

Please note, at this point in time, we have not had any guidance on vocational qualifications such as the Cambridge Nationals and Technicals, and BTEC courses.
