End of Term Letter
Dear Parents and Carers
As we come to the end of our first year as a fully operational 11 – 16 Academy and Sixth Form College, it is a good time for us to reflect on what we have achieved, provide you with end of term information and look forward to next year.
This year has seen the arrival of our first Wigston Academy Year 7s who have made an excellent start and are well prepared for next year, and the first Year 11 students to sit their GCSEs at the Academy, which they did with maturity. We wish them well for their results. Our options at Year 9 and in the sixth form have expanded further to provide a wider range of subjects and opportunities for our students. Applications for sixth form are at an all time high. The staffing structure, times of the day and support systems are now aligned across the campus. We have embedded our new behaviour system, introduced the rewards system and developed our charities and special events calendar. It has been a great year for our sporting teams and with a wide range of concerts and performances we are providing opportunities outside of the classroom to inspire and encourage our students.
I would wish to thank the staff who have worked tirelessly over the year to support our students, many giving up free time for clubs, activities, trips and to run interventions. Our students have really pulled together this year and are realising that cooperation and collaboration is the best way of working for all to be happy and successful.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank parents and carers for their ongoing support this year and would ask you to continue to contact us directly with any queries or concerns.
We would like to make you aware that the Academy and College will close at the earlier time of 12.15pm on the last day of term, Friday 13th July. However, if you wish your son/daughter to remain at the Academy until the usual time of 3.00pm please contact their Head of Year so that we can make arrangements for them. For those on the school bus, this has been arranged to leave at this earlier time. On this day we will also have an extended break time to allow the canteen to serve hot food.
We look forward to a busy end to term with lots of events including:
- Awards evenings
- Induction for Year 7 and Year 12
- Appointment of Head Boys and Girls
