Dear Parents and Carers,
I write to you with feedback about what our children think about the new lunchtime arrangements at the Academy. As you know, the new dining hall was able to open in January at the start of this term and children have responded well to the range of food that is on offer and the new freedoms such a space can bring about.
In a questionnaire to our children they were asked to rate on a scale of 1 to 10 (with 1 being the lowest) what they thought about various aspects to do with lunchtimes and breaktimes. Pupils rated the lunchtime before January at 4.8 out of 10. They rate lunchtimes post January as 8.1 out of 10. It is a similar pattern with breaktime with the figures being 5.3 out of 10 and 8.4 out of 10. In answer to the question about how easy is it to find a member of staff on duty, it is reassuring to note that our pupils give this 8.9 out of 10. There is still more to do in this area and I want all of these aspects to get ratings from the pupils at 10 out of 10.
There are more parts of the building opening after half term and I am pleased to say that there will be a brand new toilet block in the dining hall and the large glass doors to the outside seating area and playground will open so that children can come and go much more freely. I have doubled the width of the staircase and cleared the corridor that links the two buildings so that pupils can move between the buildings much more smoothly and quickly.
A list of new lunchtime pre and after school activities for sport, music and clubs, etc, has now been placed on the school website for your information. We have not sent it in paper form because it goes onto six pages! You can find this under the tab ‘pupils’ under ‘clubs’. I have also appointed two co-ordinators for the most able to ensure that these students are better challenged and supported at the Academy.
