Planning for GCSE’s and Level 2 Qualifications
As your son or daughter enters Year 9, you will no doubt be aware that this is the year that they need to make decisions about what courses they would like to study in Years 10 and 11.
The first important point to note is that your child does not need to re-enrol for Year 10. Now that we are an 11-16 Academy, students automatically become part of the next year’s cohort. On this basis, we will be taking all students through our Options programme.
The Options programme starts with an information evening on Wednesday 4th October 2017 where we will explain how the process works. The presentation will be in two sittings – which means you can hoose to attend either one at 6pm or at 7pm. As part of the evening, students and their parents and carers will also have the opportunity to meet with key teaching staff to begin to investigate the courses on offer at the Academy.
The Options programme will include lesson time where students will be supported to consider their future plans and how these may relate to the Options they choose, as well as an opportunity to take part in ‘taster lessons’ during the school day. Final choices will need to be submitted by the end of the Autumn term so that we can begin to allocate students to courses.
We hope that you are able to join us on 4th October, but if you have any further questions in the meantime or during the process, please do not hesitate to contact me on 0116 2881228 or using firstname.lastname@example.org.
