We are a teaching school and are part of Schools Direct. Wigston Academy is a lead school in the Thomas Estley Learning Alliance.

We work with a number of Universities as part of their PGCE programme including Leicester, Loughborough and Birmingham.

Get into Teaching events

Thomas Estley Learning Alliance (TELA) will soon be opening its application process for Schools Direct teacher training courses in Maths, English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, PE, MFL, Geography, Design and Technology, Art and Design, Drama, Social Science and Primary Education.

We offer support, advice, help with the application process and links with the University of Leicester, Loughborough University and The University of Warwick.

Bursaries are available for some subjects.

The UCAS application process for teacher training courses beginning in September 2017 is now open. We are recruiting teachers in the following subjects; Maths, design and technology, art and design, modern languages, physics, biology, chemistry, english, drama, social sciences, citizenship, geography, PE and primary education.
