Wigston Academy Campus Masterplan
Over the last 2 years we have been working closely with the Local Authority to provide an improved vision for the Wigston Academies Trust Campus. This includes two new buildings to joining together Site A (formerly Abington Academy) and Site B (formerly Bushloe High School).
The front link will include a larger staff room to bring together the staff of the two school sites as well as a staff corridor which over time will include the addition of meeting rooms, group rooms, break out rooms and a conference/training room.
The rear link will focus purely on the students and will provide them with a large dining area where they can enjoy meeting at break and lunchtimes as well as using it as a large break out room for classwork.
At the same time the internal rooms at Wigston College in the main building will be upgraded and improved as well as the external getting a small makeover to match the works being done on Wigston Academy to give a holistic feel to the Wigston Academies Trust Campus.
The external landscape will be pulled in together and there will be a one way in and out system implemented to help with any traffic congestion on site and easing the traffic exiting onto Station Road by only having a single exit point.
Birkett House will also be building a state of the Art Special school on the campus which will be open in September 2017.
We are pleased to announce that we now have planning permission from the Oadby & Wigston Council to proceed with the works to Wigston Academy and Wigston College and over the next few weeks work will begin to take place on the campus.
Please find below plans from our architects showing the proposed works that will be taking place on the campus.
