Dear Parents and Carers,
Your child has been given a practice option form for them to begin the process of selecting the GCSE courses that they wish to study in Year 10 and 11. Students have also been provided with a copy of the option booklet which includes the latest information and guidance. Please could you spend some time reading the information and discussing the option choices with your child.
We are hosting an Options Information Evening for students and parents from 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm on Thursday 5th January in the main hall at Site B. During this evening, senior staff will be available for you to talk to and answer any general questions that you might have relating to options. If you would like to attend this event, please complete the slip attached and return it to the main office at Site B.
Additionally, Year 9 subject parents evenings will be held on the following dates:
Thursday 12th January 6.00 pm – 8.00 pm
Tuesday 17th January 6.00 pm – 8.00 pm
These will provide opportunities for you to discuss the option choices with your child’s individual subject teachers and careers staff. Class tutors, pastoral and senior staff will also be supporting the students with their option choices.
During the week beginning the 23rd January your child will have a one to one interview with a member of staff who will help and support them in making choices. There will also be opportunities to access the careers libraries and meet with the careers staff.
Final option forms will be provided to all students at the end of January and these will need to be completed and handed into class tutors by Friday 3rd February 2017.
Having finalised the option choices early next year, it is our intention to commence with the GCSE courses as soon as possible, although, as you may be aware, many subject areas including Maths and English have already started GCSE work with your child. To aid this process, the exam boards have already been selected.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support as we move together into the next stage of your child’s learning.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or queries.
