Year 9 Trip To Paris October 2018
YEAR 9 TRIP TO PARIS – OCTOBER 2018
The Modern Foreign Languages Department will be running a residential trip to a centre in Paris from Tuesday 23rd to Friday 26th October 2018. This is an exciting opportunity for your child and it enables them to achieve three aims.
• To stay in one of the world’s most beautiful cities, seeing many places of historical and cultural interest.
• To practise their French with a view to doing GCSE French.
• To enjoy a very positive experience of Europe and to take part in a range of “fun” recreational activities.
We will be staying in a centre, organised by Voyager School Travel which is located 20km south-east of Paris, and is within easy reach of Paris.
Day 1 – Depart school. Ferry crossing. Arrive at centre in time for evening meal.
Days 2, 3, 4 – full days of excursions/sightseeing which may include:
– Arc de Triomphe
– Notre Dame
– Eiffel Tower
– Montmartre and Sacre Coeur
– Stade de France/Les Catacombes
Day 4 – Depart Paris. Ferry crossing. Arrive UK and school.
The cost will be £450, which includes travel, accommodation, food, entrance fees and insurance It does not include pocket money or meals while we are travelling. Your child will require his/her own passport and EHIC card.
It is a requirement that all children participating in this trip have a current exemplary behaviour record. This is due to the specific demands of the trip and to meet associated health and safety requirements. We plan to go to the top of the Eiffel tower and go underground into the Catacombes.
If you would like your child to be considered, please complete the attached slip and return it to Miss Lloyd at Student Reception by Monday 18th June with an initial deposit of £50. If your child is not allocated a place this will be returned. You will hear by Wednesday 20th June whether we are able to offer your child a place on this trip and will ask for a further non-refundable deposit of £150 by Friday 6th July to secure the place.
I hope that you will agree that this is a very good opportunity for your child, complementing all the work covered in Year 8 and preparing them for year 9 with a view to choosing GCSE French. We hope that you will want to apply.
Each child who currently receives a free school meal is entitled to up to £150 extra funding for use solely on school visits each year. If your child is eligible and you would like to use this funding (or part thereof) to help cover the cost of this trip then please contact Miss R Lloyd at school or via her email address firstname.lastname@example.org
